Full Description

BS PAS 17271:2017 gives recommendations to organizations forprotecting customers from financial harm that mightoccur as a result of fraud or financial abuse.

The PAS also gives guidance on how to recognizecustomers who might be at risk from fraud andfinancial abuse, how to assess the potential risks to theindividual and how to take the necessary actions toprevent or minimize financial harm.

In cases where fraud or financial abuse has alreadyoccurred, the PAS gives guidance on how to help andsupport customers, and how to minimize future risks.

This PAS does not cover financial services providedto businesses, organizations that only hold, manageor process personal data, or the sale of products andservices by retail organizations. It does not coverfinancial service providers operating outside the UK,even if they are providing services to UK consumers.

The PAS is applicable to any size or type oforganization, operating in the UK, that manages themoney or other financial assets of UK consumers,in particular banks, building societies, credit cardproviders, credit unions, and pension providers.
