For plasticizers and other purposes requiring materials of similar quality. Clarity and freedom from suspended matter, colour, colour after heat treatment, density at 20C, refractive index, water content, ash, acidity and saponification value. Also matter oxidizable by potassium dichromate (BS 4696 and BS 4970 only) and viscosity (BS 4970 only). Methods of test are given in BS 188, BS 4522 and BS 4835.
