Material Description. This specification describes material types of a transparent or pigmented Poly-N-methylmethacrylimide (PMMI) which are used in injection molded components.

Paintability. Approved paint systems that can be used on this material are listed, for example, in the General Motors Approved Paint on Parts Systems (APOPS) database.

Types. The classification into groups is according to the different properties as described in Table 1 and Table 2. Table 3 contains a brief description of the differentiation between the types.

Symbols. The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is PMMI.

Applicability. Typical applications include transparent exterior lighting lenses, light guides, light pipe, etc., that require higher heat resistance than acrylic/Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA).
