Description / Abstract:
GMW17431, 1st Edition, October 2015 - Water Quality
This specification details the requirements for water quality in
processing vehicles in the paint shop. The requirements will be
used to ensure optimum quality of the incoming water that is
applied on the vehicle. The water must be removed from the surface
without leaving any foreign matter and shall not adversely affect
paint adhesion to the subsequent coatings. The water must not etch
the coated surface and must minimize water spotting of a cleaned
surface.
Material Description. Materials referenced in
this standard are classified as Potable, City or Non-High Purity
(HPW). Paragraph 3.1 defines specified limits of certain ions and
compounds that can be found in water. It directs that water sources
not falling within these limits cannot be used for make-up or
addition to chemical systems referenced to this
requirement.
Symbols. Not applicable.
Applicability. This standard applies to all
full body vehicles, individual parts, and space frames. These
systems provide wash, rinse, and filtration equipment to support
each individual paint shop process.
