Scope

Describe current reclosing practices for transmission and distribution lines. Also discussed will be application considerations and coordination practices of reclosing.

Purpose

There presently does not exist a document defining the available practices for reclosing automatically on the power system. A document defining current practice and the reasons for it is a necessary reference or less experienced engineers.

Abstract

New IEEE Standard - Superseded.Guidelines for the application of automatic reclosing facilities to circuit breakers are established. Decisions concerning the use of such facilities in specific cases are left to the user.
