This SAE Recommended Practice identifies and examines the various parameters which must be considered in selecting hydraulic systems filters, their locations within the system and the dirt capacity of the filter elements.

This document is generally applicable to all ship hydraulic systems but does not apply to personal or recreational watercraft.
