These requirements coverstationary engine generator assemblies rated 600 volts or less that are intended for installation and use in ordinary locations in accordancewith the National Electrical Code NFPA-70; the Standard for the Installation and Use of Stationary Combustion Engines and Gas Turbines, NFPA-37, the Standardfor Health Care Facilities, NFPA-99, and the Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems, NFPA-110.
These requirements do not cover generators for use in hazardous (Classified) locations. That Equipment is covered by the Standard for Electric Motors andGenerators for Hazardous (Classified) Locations, UL 674.
These requirements do not cover UPS equipment. That equipment is covered by the Standard for Uninterruptible Power Supply Equipment, UL 1778.
These requirements do not cover generators for marine use. That equipment is covered by the Standard for Marine Electric Motors and Generators, UL 1112.
A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the Standard was developed, and thatinvolves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determinednecessary to mai ntain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this Standard.
