These requirements cover electric motors and generators for installation and use in hazardous (classified) locations, Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D, and ClassII, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G, in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.

These requirements also cover explosion-proof electrical equipment for installation and use in Class I, Zone 1, Groups IIA and IIB, hazardous (classified) locations.

These requirements cover both horizontal and vertical machines that have fractional and integral horsepower ratings and are for use on alternating current (ac) ordirect current (dc).

These requirements cover electric motors and generators for use only under the following atmospheric conditions: A minimum ambient temperature of minus 70EC (minus 94EF), An oxygen concentration not greater than 21 percent by volume, and A nominal barometric pressure of one atmosphere.
