Full Description

These requirements cover nonmetallic safety cans that have nominal capacities of 5 Imperial gallons or less and that are primarily intended to store and handle fuel oil,gasoline, kerosene.

Nonmetallic safety cans that are intended to store and handle liquid fuels other than those specified in 1.1 may be subjected to additional requirements not covered inthe Standard.

These requirements cover cans of two types, designated herein as Type I and Type II.

A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the Standard was developed, and thatinvolves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determinednecessary to mai ntain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this Standard.
